People @ Work!

“Talent wins games, but team work and intelligence wins championships”
– Micheal Jordan

Well, it’s exactly 9 months today that I’ve been to the office. Work From Home is definitely the new normal. I was looking outside the window, remembering my colleagues and our chats aand fun we had, sitting on my work desk, in a small corner of my bedroom, a couple of days ago and suddenly rains started. Over the past 6 years, I surely learnt thier importance in my life. Atleast one new thing you get to know from your colleagues and peers, everyday, when you’re at the office. The evening of that day Google servers went down. I thought it’s still 2020.

Yes, I do miss seeing people at work. Nowadays seeing and engaging with people is not possible, hearing through the Meets and the Skypes is the only way. With me joining a new organisation since August this year, where I am based remotely, for me, meeting and enjoying with my office peers, it’s not in the near future.

I am lucky to work with some extraordinary people at Practo and Rivigo. Engaging with them made life more easier and joyful. At this point of time, where many compies are moving towards complete WFH model, are we moving into a new age of remote working?

Few questions and queries run through my mind :
(a) Reducing admin cost will help, but the company will have to invest in the employee engagement activities.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy
(b) Emotions and empathy amongst peers will be reduced, might lead to lack of team bonding
(c) Long working hours. Being disconnected becomes the key

The key for the business growth has always been the people. The core team and the inspiration they provide.
With remote working getting implemented across the globe, I still feel it should be a balanced of normalised office and remote working

Any thoughts?
