The sense of Ownership makes you do things differently. A very small trait per se, but can move a mountain in the professional life. This was instilled in me since childhood but came to light during my times at Rivigo. Deepak Garg (or DG, as he is widely known as) had set up the Rivigo Leadership Principles (RLPs) and Ownership was the first of the ten. And it really changed me. Truly, I became the owner of my life. I would be forever grateful for that.
Some of these RLPs are very well defined and should be implemented throughout our lives like Thinking Big. By thinking big you will manifest. This leads you to act on achieving your dreams. This is easily possible through 1% improvement daily, compounding to 37% annually (again another RLP of 1% Improvement Everyday!)
The professional world teaches you such stuffs and if you are authentic to yourselves you will sail through easily. I have tested waters, learnt to swim and I very well know my destination, so implementing such stuffs makes my journey more comfortable and worthwhile.
The practical skills and principles you learn in your career matter much more than the theorotical skills from the MBAs, Engineering or any other courses. Upskilling, be it functional or technical, plays a vital role in defining your career. More importantly the upskilling has to be result oriented and has to be in a pragmatic manner.
Self Management and Upskilling are the only two controllable factors that makes you different from the herd of talent. Hands-on experience will only matter.
When I improve, my team improves. Simple Ripple Effect.
Talent upskilling in our country is the need of the hour! Period.
PS – I have data to back my last sentence (Oh! Data-driven is also one of the RLP)
