The concept of CSC2023 – The Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference – Canada 2023 was so exciting that I was waiting for the journey to start, just after a 3 day opening plenary and a Gala dinner with HRH Princess Anne, a 10 day study trip to a defined province, followed by the closing plenary. 300 people split into 15 groups and off they take their journey of leadership or to be more precise a journey to discover themselves in a better manner.
I was eager to meet people from my group who belong to 12 different nations and explore Southern Alberta Province with them. And together as a team, as a group we stay together, eat together, have fun together and most importantly learn together for 10 days of our lives, moving from one place to another.
Now, at the half way mark of the conference and currently in the middle of the study tour, I feel so connected to the theme of the conference – Leadership for an Inclusive Change. A few lessons learnt in the mid-way :
(a) Respect every view because it matters.
(b) Diversity and Inclusivity has to be there at every level of the chain.
(c) A true leader always discovers in the time of chaos.
(d) Perspectives can cause two people to look at the same thing and see two totally different things.
And I can list a dozen more, but these are just primary ones till the mid-way. More to learn!
