As we go into the festive week starting tomorrow, it will be days full of love, laughter and sweets with family, friends and your closed ones.
Keeping aside all the 70 hours/week debates to discussing fundraising, from conversation of Gen AI across the worktables to appraisals approaching time, every Indian goes into the celebration mode pushing such things into non existent mode for the 5 days of the year, i.e. for Diwali.
We don’t say “It’s the Best of the Year” like our friends in the West but we decorate our houses and offices with lights and Rangoli, put on new/best outfits and pray to Goddess Laxmi for our well being and progress. Well, I don’t want to go into the Reels or the Shorts culture, which is dominating and not to forget the Sales across all the brands. Mythologically, just for my friends and network outside India, Diwali is the festival of lights and celebrated for Lord Rama coming back to his home after 14 years and being victorious over the evil.
I still remember the childhood time when on a pre Diwali Sunday, it used to be the day when we cleaned our home as it was the only day my mother had an off. Though I was a bit lazy, in those days, I helped the best I could with excitement and then went to buy crackers and sweets with dad.
The Diyas, Kandeels, colors and what not! The local artists, tailors, and small shop owners get the most income of the year during these days. Go to the local sweet shop and you’ll surely find a big queue because they know exactly the taste of the people of your town/city. I highly prefer to buy from them rather than the malls. And this has been the case since like ever.
With India moving forward to become a Super Power in the next 25 years, let’s be VocalForLocal and help to bring a smile to these people. The income through this local people would make us stronger cumulatively and promote things that are from our own land, culture and people. And yes, don’t forget to burst crackers within the set limits because that’s fun š
Wishing each and everyone, a Shubh Deepawali 2023!
